Ship 1899
Sea Scouts Ship 1899 at White Rock Lake builds youth leadership, confidence, and teamwork through hands-on sailing, planning, and community service.

Leadership & Seamanship
Sea Scouts Ship 1899 meets twice monthly at White Rock Lake for youth-led, adult-mentored sessions where Scouts learn seamanship skills like navigation, rigging, and knot-tying, and get on-water training in kayaks, canoes, and sailboats. The program builds leadership through goal-setting, team planning, and community service—Scouts plan events, delegate tasks, and partner on lake cleanups and habitat restoration. Participants can pursue advancement toward U.S. Coast Guard qualifications, giving them a head start on maritime careers while fostering confidence, teamwork, and environmental stewardship.
